May 26th, 2022 @ 12:00 am

ESTEVAN, SK (May 25, 2022) – Ethan Barwick stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Brooks Bandits blanked the host-Estevan Bruins 4-0 to wrap up the preliminary round with a perfect record, and as the top seed in the 2022 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons, Wednesday at Affinity Place.

Ryan McAllister scored twice, and despite a 30 minute power outage delay in the 2nd period, Brooks (4-0-0-0) stayed perfect at the tournament, earning a bye through the quarter-finals and will play in the first Semi-Final on Saturday at 4:00 pm vs a to-be-determined opponent.

McAllister (Western Michigan) sniped the opening goal just 22 seconds in the contest, taking a feed from Nic DeGraves to make it 1-0. Forward Noah Hackett (Niagara) one-timed a Boston Buckberger (Wisconsin) pass from the left circle at 9:07 to make it 2-0. Estevan pulled starter Boston Bilous and replaced him with Cam Hrdlicka. Shots were 16-7 Bandits.

Just over seven minutes into the 2nd frame, play was immediately stopped after the arena went black due to a power outage. The delay lasted 30 minutes before power was restored.

Out of the timeout, McAllister slid in a five-hole forehand shot to make it 3-0 at 18:12. Shots in the 2nd were 12-11 Brooks.

Bandits forward Anthony Cipollone (Quinnipiac) put the game away in the 3rd on a shot from the half wall to make it 4-0 at 17:00. Barwick denied Bruins forward Eric Pearce with a huge glove save late in the period to preserve the shutout. Shots were 12-5 Estevan in the period, but 36-32 advantage Bandits.
