Kash Rasmussen Commits to Michigan Tech Huskies

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are thrilled to announce that captain Kash Rasmussen has officially committed to the Michigan Tech Huskies in the NCAA.

"It's a pretty surreal moment. You work your whole life for that and the fact that it's happening now--I'm happy and excited," said Kash Rasmussen. "It's a great program and I think it suits my game really well. The CCHA is a league that I think I can develop in."

Rasmussen is beginning his fifth season with the organization having played 104 games with the Yaks since 2017-18. Despite missing all of the 2018-19 season due to a serious ACL tear, Rasmussen rehabbed and has been able to continue his junior career.

The Cochrane native was named the team's Playoff MVP against the Drayton Valley Thunder in 19-20 and has been the captain since play resumed for the regular season in 2020-21.

"Kash is always been a player that does things the right way. He understand that doing it right is an all the time thing," said coach and general manager Rick Swan.

"He is a player who has gone through more adversity than any other player that I've ever coached. He understands and fully embraced the inner drive that it takes to be a successful player, along with having an earn-it mentality and his perserverence is a model for most players that come back harder when they're faced with the injuries he's had in the past," he said.

"He couldn't be more deserving of getting this opportunity because he's the one player that has been in the work both physically and mentally to ensure he created the best exposure for himself. He comes from a great family and is a great person."

Currently this season, Rasmussen has one goal and one assist in two games.

He is the 97th Bonnyville Pontiac to commit to a collegiate program since 2013-14.

"I'd like to thank the Bonnyville Pontiacs organization, my family and all my teammates for helping me get here," said Rasmussen.
