The Inter Pipeline AJHL Player of the Week is Kash Rasmussen of the Bonnyville Pontiacs. The Team Captain from Cochrane, AB scored back-to-back hat tricks over the weekend in two Pontiac wins.
Rasmussen led the Pontiacs to a 6-2 win on Saturday night versus the Whitecourt Wolverine with his first AJHL hat trick, then repeated the performance on Sunday by scoring three of the four Pontiac goals in a 4-0 victory. Kash earned the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award both nights.
The 20 year-old forward is tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points (7G, 4A) after just 8 games played and is averaging 1.4 points per game.
The Merit Contractors AJHL Rookie of the Week and the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week both hail from the Calgary Canucks for the period of April 12th-18th, 2021.
Goaltender Adam Dmyterko recorded his first AJHL win to earn the defensive award honours. On April 16th, Adam turned away all 31 shots to record a 5-0 shutout over the Olds Grizzlys in his first victory of the 2020-21 season. The Saskatoon, SK native also picked up the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.
Dmyterko, 21, has recorded the most saves (289) and faced the most shots on goal (322) of all AJHL goaltenders this season.
Forward Ben Kotylak receives recognition as the Merit Contractors Rookie of the Week with 3 points in two consecutive wins over Olds. Kotylak opened the scoring on Friday night with what would be the eventual game winning goal in a 5-0 win in which he also scored the final goal. On Saturday night, Ben added an assist in a 4-3 overtime victory for the Canucks.
The 19 year-old from Vancouver, BC is enjoying a 4-game point streak and has 5 points (3G, 2A) in 8 games played this season.
