Saints Announce CL 12 & PT 30 Memorial Game

January 7th, 2020 @ 12:00 am

(Spruce Grove, AB) – The Spruce Grove Saints and General Manager Rob Sklaruk are honored to announce the hosting of a memorial game in honor of former Saints and Humboldt Broncos players, Parker Tobin and Conner Lukan.

The CL 12 & PT 30 Memorial Game will take place on January 24th versus the Camrose Kodiaks at 7 pm at the Grant Fuhr Arena in Spruce Grove. The Saints will be wearing special Humboldt Broncos themed jerseys honoring both former players and the other 14 lives that were lost in the tragedy that shook the nation.

There will be a silent auction which will take place in the Grant Fuhr Lounge and all jerseys will be given off the back of each player after the game to the winning bidders. Thompson Construction Group has generously donated the jerseys that will be used that evening. All proceeds of these jerseys will be donated to help support victim services, a service that was instrumental in supporting both the Tobin and Lukan families in the wake of the tragic events on April 6th, 2018.

Saints General Manager spoke about the upcoming game, of Conner and Parker and why it was important to make this game happen.

“Parker and Conner were incredible young men who we all (the Saints organization) were lucky to know and spend time with. They both had such bright futures ahead of them, they were loved by so many, it’s just such a shame they were taken from everyone so soon.” Sklaruk continued. “It’s important that their memory and lives continue to be celebrated and remembered. This game allows the Saints and our fans the opportunity to show the Tobin and Lukan families how much they meant to the city of Spruce Grove and our hockey club.”

“Ed (Parker’s father) continues to assist the Saints as an education advisor for the past year, which has been really great to have him around our young men. In spending time with Ed, he stressed how important victim services was for the families, so collectively we came up with the idea of having this game and use it as way to help victim services. Raising funds for these types of organizations is extremely important, we look forward to raising as much as we can in honor of Parker and Conner.” Sklaruk concluded.

More details regarding the game will be released in the coming days.
