Curtis Roach opened February with 1 goal and 3 assists in an 8-2 victory over the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Thursday and was rewarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game.   The Oil Barons would pick up two more wins on the weekend in a two-game homestand versus the Grande Prairie Storm.   Roach recorded a 3-point game on Saturday night in a 7-3 win.

Roach, 20, is 8th in scoring among all AJHL defencemen, 4th in the North Division, with 32 points (5 goals, 27 assists).  He is averaging 1.1 points per game, the second highest points per game average of all AJHL defencemen.

The Oil Barons are 2nd in the Viterra AJHL North Division standings with 11 games remaining, and are ranked 16th in the CJHL Top 20 National Rankings.

Goaltender Luke Lush of the Camrose Kodiaks is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.  Lush faced 99 shots in three games last week and came out with a perfect 3-0 record.

On Tuesday night, Lush stole a 3-2 win from the Sherwood Park Crusaders when he stopped 30 of 32 shots on goal.  After 60 minutes and overtime on Friday night, the Olds Grizzlys and Camrose Kodiaks were tied 3-3, until Lush earned the shutout victory for the Kodiaks.  Saturday night’s game would also require extra time, as the Kodiaks and Dragons went into overtime tied 2-2.  Lush would once again steal the win and extend the Kodiaks winning streak to three games.

The 19 year-old from Sherwood Park, AB is 4th overall with a .917 SV% and 7th overall with a 2.50 GAA.
