Posted May 3rd, 2017 @ 3:00 pm

The Drumheller Dragons are very pleased to announce that 1996-born forward and most recent team captain Chad Hurtubise has committed to the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder for the 2017-2018 season. The Thunder compete in the Alberta College Athletics Conference (ACAC) Men’s Hockey League.

Hurtubise was acquired from the Bonnyville Pontiacs at the beginning of the 2016-17 season. In 151 Alberta Junior Hockey League regular season games played, Chad accumulated 35 goals, 56 assists for 91 points and 152 penalty minutes. In 58 games played with the Dragons, Chad earned 50 points including a team leading 4 points in 5 games during the play-offs.

Thunder Head Coach Dan Glegloff had this to say regarding Chad’s commitment, "We are very pleased to be adding a quality person like Chad to our program at Concordia University of Edmonton. His offensive abilities will be a great asset for us on the ice but we are especially excited for him to bring the same leadership attributes that made him the captain in Drumheller last season."

Concordia University of Edmonton has a wealth of Alberta Junior Hockey League alumni on its current roster which includes former Drumheller Dragon Rory Davidson. Other players include Brady Bakke (Bonnyville Pontiacs), Tanner McCorriston (Whitecourt Wolverines), Adam Wheeldon (Camrose Kodiaks), Ryley Rimmer (Drayton Valley Thunder), Jakob Lavoie (Canmore Eagles), and Ian McLellan (Grande Prairie Storm).

The entire Drumheller Dragons organization would like to congratulate Chad on his accomplishment of moving onto the University of Concordia Edmonton, and thank him and his family for their dedication and leadership this past season.
