RBC Community Ambassador – Jacob Kendall, Camrose Kodiaks
Posted February 28th, 2019 @ 12:00 am

Jacob is the first to step up any time anything is needed to be done in the community. Jacob is the leader of the “'Kodiaks Cubs Club' - a weekly school visit initiative encouraging students to be physically active and to work on literacy outside of school hours. He is also part of 'Read to Success', which encourages students in the Battle River School Division to read and meet individual goals.

Jacob has been the leader in volunteer hours with Habitat for Humanity, laying sod at four new homes in Camrose and has been instrumental in collecting and delivering food to the Camrose Food Bank. Whenever there is a volunteer opportunity, Jacob steps up just like he does on the ice as a leader. Other volunteer activities of his include working the KidSport Bicycle Safety Day, Kinsmen Kick-off BBQ Family Day, and delivering teddy bears for Stollery Kids Day.

Even in the off-season, Jacob has participated in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event in support of the Camrose Women’s Shelter Society. Additionally, he volunteers with his brother who is involved with Special Olympics Alberta. He and his brother help out with the baseball team specifically. These are just a few of a long list of ways Jacob finds ways to give back year round to a community which he is so proud to call home.

Each AJHL team will nominate one player who has shown exemplary commitment to community service to be recognized as an AJHL RBC Community Ambassador - all 16 athletes will make up the 2018-19 AJHL RBC Community Ambassador Team!   At the conclusion of the regular season, one AJHL RBC Community Ambassador will be selected as the recipient of the RBC Community Award. A donation will be made to the Ambassador’s local charity from RBC and a Scholarship will be provided to the player from the AJHL to be used for post-secondary education.
