Calgary Mustangs forward Jackson Salt is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week with 7 points (2G, 5A) in three games from January 7th – 13th, 2019.  Salt has compiled a five-game point streak, totaling 10 points since the start of the new year.

Salt aided the Mustangs to a 5-2 win over the Camrose Kodiaks with 2 assists to kick off his week on January 8th.  On Friday, January 11th, he opened the scoring versus Sherwood Park in a game that saw the Mustangs fall 4-3 to the North Division leaders, and an end to a 7 game win streak for the Stangs.  The week concluded in an 11-3 blowout versus Lloydminster, and a career high 4-point (1G, 3A) performance by Jackson.

Salt, an 18 year old from DeWinton, AB is in his second season with the Mustangs.  With 24 points (8G, 16A) already in the 2018-19 campaign, he has nearly matched his point total from the 2017-2018 season of 26 points.

The Calgary Mustangs are fourth in the Viterra AJHL South Division at 22-14-6 and 50 points.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Canmore Eagles defenceman Mark Drohan.  With 6 points last week, Drohan continues to lead all AJHL d-men in scoring at 47 points (8G, 39A).

Drohan (Calgary, AB) added a goal and an assist in a 7-1 victory over Olds on Saturday night.  On Sunday, he added to his league leading 39 assists when he accumulated 4 more in a 5-3 win over the Calgary Canucks, including an assist on the game winning goal.  Mark has recorded points in 14 of the last 17 games played.

The 20 year-old, five-year AJHL vet, leads the Eagles as an alternate captain and is second in team scoring.  Drohan was also recognized as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week in September when he scored 9 points in the opening four games of the season.
