Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & Alberta Ford Defensive Player of the Week

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Landon Gross of the Olds Grizzlys.  Gross scored 4 goals and 2 assists in 3 games played during the week of January 23rd - 29th, 2017. 

Landon Gross (Pincher Creek, AB) recorded 1 goal and 1 assist against the Okotoks Oilers on Tuesday night and again on Saturday.  Gross was awarded as the Viterra Star of the Game in the first of the two battles with Okotoks.  On Friday night, Gross scored twice in a 3-2 shutout loss to the Canmore Eagles.

The 20 year-old forward is 3rd in team scoring with 37 points (19G, 18A) and is averaging a point per game.  Landon is among the Top 20 AJHL Scorers in the category of points per game.

The Olds Grizzlys currently hold the final playoff spot in the Viterra AJHL South Division.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Canmore Eagles defenceman Brett Stewart.  In 2 games, Stewart scored 2 goals and 3 assists in back to back wins for the Eagles.

On Saturday, January 28th Brett Stewart recorded a personal best 4 point game (1G, 3A) in a win over the Calgary Canucks, including the game winning goal.  The 20 year old from Summerland, BC has scored 6 points in his last 3 games.  He is among the Top 15 AJHL Defencemen with 28 points (10G, 18A).

The Eagles have compiled a three game win streak and are 5th in the Viterra AJHL South Division.
